Farmhouse holiday Il Moro, an old farmhouse, recently restored into flats of various sizes, respecting the original style and architectural elements.
Deep in the Tuscany country-side, it is an ideal place for those who wish to relax in the nature and for art lovers, only ten minutes from Siena, less than an hour from Montalcino, San Gimignano, Pienza and Florence.
For any requirement during the holiday we are always at your disposol and often to offer our guests just a good cup of coffee.
Farmhouse holiday Il Moro has a surface area of about 150 acres of organicly cultivated land: wheat, olives, aromatic herbs, pulses and a small vegetable garden so we have chosen to respect the natural cycle, refusing substances that might pollute and to value the produce as it grows naturally, which might give them a modest appearange but a priceless quality.
During the flowering of the plants, we place bee-hives in the fields and with the help of skilled workers we make honey.
We sell directly our own produce.

The sampling of typical products

The guests of the farmhouse Il Moro, if they wish can take part in the evenings dedicated to the sampling of typicial produce of produce of Tuscany cookery.

From the garden to the table
In the garden by the side of the farmhouse many typical vegetables are cultivated in small quantities, many kinds of vegetables that mature above all in the summer.
Tomatoes, peppers, aubergines, cucumbers, green beans, artichokes, garlic, onions, lettuce, celery, basil, parsley and a few fruit trees that give us fresh produce for the kitchen.
Infact the produce from the vegetable garden are not sold but used for the family and in preparing the sampling menus.
Naturally in the kitchen we can't be without extravergine olive oil which is produce on the farm.

The menu of typical Tuscan dishes and pizza
The evenings dedicated to sampling (you can eat under the gazebo) the typical Tuscan menù prepared by Antonella:
most of the ingredients used are produce of the farm, local genuine produce is also bought guaranteeing the flavour: sheep's cheese, salami produced locally as salted ham and Tuscan salmi, the sausages and meat go together with a good wine, these are some of the produce you can sample at the farmhouse "Il Moro".
One day a week during the summer is dedicated to pizza, which is cooked in a wood heated oven, as much pizza as you want and for all tastes, margherita, vegetable, spicy salami, sausage, ham and with many other ingredients, depending on the season and according to Antonella's fantasy and to finish with nutella pizza.
The dishes prepared by Antonella, are part of the typical Tuscan cookery, using mainly the produce from the vegetable garden.
(Crostini) small rounds of toasted bread with different toppings.
(Bruschetta) a large slice of toasted bread with different toppings.
(La panzanella) bread mixed with cucumber, tomato, onion, basil and dressed with olive oil.
The pasta "Toscana" made with flour from the farm is dressed with genuine sauces, the vegetables'in season and the jam tart are some of the dishes suggested by the farm kitchen "Il Moro".

This dish is very simple and tasty and can only be found in Tuscany because the main ingredient is Tuscany bread:
it can't be prepared with other types of bread without alterring the flavour. Originally "Panzanella" was a poor dish using up dried bread the secret was (and still is today) the quality of the ingredients.
The bread soaker in water for at least two hours, then it is squeezed and dreessed with olive oil, salt, vinegar, tomatoes and onion.
This was the original recipe, the recipe today and in particular Antonella's, capers, anchovies and gerkins are added... and the discovery of other ingredients.
